Still Laughing My Head Off!

Today was Olivia's Kindergarten testing. It was hysterical! Her teacher and I laughed so hard that tears flowed. (Although, we were trying to make it not seem as if we were laughing for Olivia's sake.) It would take too long to write out the entire half hour dialogue, but here's a highlight.

Teacher: Olivia, what shape is this?
Olivia: A circle.
Teacher: That's right! What shape is this?
Olivia: A square.
Teacher: That's right! What shape is this?
Olivia: A triangle.
Teacher: That's right! What shape is this? (Holding up a rectangle.)
Olivia: (Obviously Olivia can't remember what it is called, but is not about to say so. So, she takes the square, and puts a triangle on top of it and says, "what shape is this? A house.....this is a house.")
Teacher: Wow, that is impressive, but what shape is this? (Again, holding up the rectangle.)
Olivia: (Putting the circle with a triangle on top.) What shape is this teacher? This is a girl wearing a party hat!
Teacher: (At this point laughing too hard to talk...)

The half hour was pure entertainment. I am sooooo going to miss Olivia this year. I failed to mention that at the kindergarten openhouse last week Olivia got to go in and meet her teacher and see the classroom. I put on a cute sundress for the event, and realized at the last minute that it might be a tad short, so had to convince her to put on a pair of shorts with it. She protested greatly, and so I explained to her that she wouldn't want the boys to be able to see her underpants.

SOOOOOOO, we walked into a full kindergarten classroom with parents and their children, and walked right up to her teacher and loudly said, "Look teacher, I made sure and wore shorts to cover my underpants, so the boys won't see them!" Her teacher just laughed and said, "Oh, I'm going to have fun with this one this year!"

Love,
Shannon
